Shop for a Cause: From March 1-12, the Red Cross will host an online auction with proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Bid on hotel stays in Bora Bora, Seoul, London, Las Vegas, Tahoe and Maui, as well as airfare tickets, golf and entertainment packages and restaurant gift certificates.
There’s even a Wyland painting and koa bowl hand-carved by State Attorney General David Louie. Bid at redcross.org/hawaii.
Take a class: The Red Cross offers many courses that teach life-saving skills such as adult and pediatric first aid and CPR, pet first aid, nurse aide training, baby-sitting training, wilderness training and more. Blended online courses are now also being offered for those who are short on time.
Register at redcross.org/take-a-class or call 1-800-733-2767.
Get involved: Volunteer your time and effort to support the Red Cross mission of helping those in need.
The Red Cross is always seeking office volunteers, disaster volunteers, instructors, first aid station volunteers and even office workers. Go to redcross.org/hawaii to register as a volunteer.
Be prepared: In Hawaii, because of its isolation, all families are advised to be prepared for seven days. Create a disaster plan with your family and put together a disaster kit. Download Red Cross first aid, hurricane and other mobile apps that provide instant life-saving information.
