The state House has passed a bill requiring the state to take a no-net-loss approach to hunting areas.
House Bill 1902 directs the state Department of Natural Resources to make reasonable efforts to prevent the loss of hunting areas while also replacing land that becomes unavailable.
It also requires the state to form a hunting advisory commission.
The House passed the bill on Tuesday. The Senate will consider it next.
Rep. Cindy Evans, D-Kohala, North Kona, introduced the bill.
