The Hawaii Island Landscape Association (HILA) and University of Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service are offering the 2014 Landscape Maintenance Training (LMT) Program and the Landscape Industry Certification Program to landscape professionals and serious gardeners.
The LMT course is a 10-week series of classes that may also be taken individually.
Topics include: Basic Botany, Tropical Plant Identification &Selection, Plant Nutrition &Soil Health, Turf Care, Irrigation Basics, Pruning Trees &Shrubs, Establishing and Managing a Landscape, Pesticide Use &Safety, Pest ID and Control, and Math for Landscapers.
The classes begin March 26 and will be hosted Wednesday afternoons through May 28. The three-hour classes are hosted 2-5 p.m. at Ka‘upulehu Interpretive Center in North Kona. The cost for each class is $35 for HILA members and $40 for non-members. The fee for the entire series is $325 for members and $375 for nonmembers.
Space is limited, and early registration is suggested.
