Emily Greene had a batting performance to remember for the University of Hawaii at Hilo softball team on Thursday as she batted 5 for 7 with nine RBIs against Academy of Arts.
The Vulcans committed seven errors in the first game and lost 10-8. Greene, a junior first baseman from Woodland Hills, Calif., went 4 for 4 with six RBIs, including a grand slam.
Aubrey Colleen went 2 for 4 with a solo homer and Kristina Victa and Rebecca Lee added two hits each for the Vulcans, whose seven miscues led to seven unearned run.
Hannah Peterson took the loss with two unearned runs allowed in one inning.
In the second game, the Vulcans beat the Urban Knights 8-4, sparked by Greene’s three-run homer in the first inning.
She finished 1 for 3 with three RBIs. Victa went 4 for 4 with two runs scored, Lee was 2 for 3 with three runs scored, and Tianalia Faasua added two RBIs for the Vulcans (13-9 overall, 8-5 PacWest).
Peterson went the distance, scattering 11 hits. She allowed four runs (just one earned), walked two and struck out none.
Jill Johnson gave up seven runs in five innings in the loss for the Urban Knights (4-10, 2-2).
