To celebrate April as Architecture Month, the Hawaii Island Section of the Honolulu Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Honolulu) invites the public to join in three free film presentations of “From Nothing, Something: A Documentary on the Creative Process.”
The film profiles creative thinkers across a variety of disciplines to unearth the common techniques and habits that can lead to truly groundbreaking ideas. This is a thoughtful and often humorous look at the creative process, direct from the world’s most accomplished talents.
The documentary features interviews with highly accomplished creative talents including architect Preston Scott Cohen, Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Steve Breen, songwriter Sara Quin of Tegan &Sara, Oscar-nominated screenwriter and novelist Tom Perrotta, Hollywood creature designer Neville Page and chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger.
The film will be shown on the Big Island at the following times and places:
• Hilo: 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hawaii Innovation Center at Hilo, 117 Keawe St. in downtown Hilo, one block from Kamehameha Avenue on Hilo Bay.
• Waimea: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the W.M. Keck Observatory Headquarters Hualalai Learning Theater, 65-1120 Mamalahoa Highway.
• Kona: 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Donkey Mill Art Center, 78-6670 Mamalahoa Highway in Holualoa.
