Morihiro’s first round 3-over-par 75 was five strokes behind the tourney leader, Cal State East Bay’s Andrea Castellanos, who shot a 2-under-par 70 on Monday.
UHH’s Nyssa Aoki was tied for 11th at 6-over-par 78 while teammate Dayna Bersamin was a stroke behind and tied for 14th place. Kristen Sawada was at 9-over-par 81 and tied for 23rd place, followed by Kacie Harada (T29, 82) and Jade Salvador (T44, 87).
Cal State East Bay leads the tournament with a 303 total, followed by Sonoma State (312), Cal State Monterey Bay (318), UHH (320), Point Loma (321), Academy of Art and Texas Wesleyan (324), Newman (327), Sonoma State-Blue (328) and Dominican (341).
