The Daniel Robert Sayre Memorial Foundation will host a gifting ceremony for the Hawaii County Fire Department at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the large pavilion on the south end of Hapuna Beach Park.
All donors, committee members, county and state officials, as well as the public, are invited to attend this meaningful event and take time to thank the heroes in the HCFD for all that they do for their communities every day.
That day, the Sayre Foundation will give firefighters nearly $60,000 worth of equipment.
The equipment includes a Long Range Communication System for Hapuna Beach. The purchase of the system was made possible through a gift of $12,502 from the Ironman Foundation.
Also to be presented will be 36 Buoyancy Compensator Devices (used with diving equipment), diving alert systems and safety equipment, cold weather gear, Automated External Defibrillators, rescue boards, binoculars, CMC Harness Rescue Equipment, an Emergency Medical Services Cell Booster Kit and GPS systems.
“Because the lives of our community members and our visiting guests often depend upon our first responders, it is imperative that they have the very best equipment,” said Laura and Frank Sayre of the foundation.
“The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is grateful to the generosity of our island community as well as many generous donors from other locations for helping us to help our first responders save lives.”
The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Annual Awards Dinner and Fundraiser will be hosted Saturday, Aug. 30, at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii at Mauna Lani Resort.
Activities will begin at 4:30 p.m.
This is the 17th dinner and fundraiser hosted by the foundation. In 2013, the sold-out event raised more than $100,000.
