Sleep Train has made an agreement to acquire America’s Mattress in Hawaii.
The acquisition includes nine local America’s Mattress stores: five stores on Oahu, two stores on the Big Island in Kona and Hilo, and one each on the islands of Maui and Kauai. The deal is expected to close on April 23.
“We are excited to welcome the America’s Mattress team to the Sleep Train ohana of employee-owners and expand our company throughout the islands,” said Dale Carlsen, CEO and founder of Sleep Train.
Sleep Train, the parent company to Sleep Train Mattress Centers, Sleep Country USA, Mattress Discounters, and Got Sleep?, has opened 30 new stores over the last 15 months. The acquisition of America’s Mattress brings the enterprise’s store count to more than 300.
“Sleep Train’s commitment to the community, distributing quality products made in Hawaii, and taking care of its employees, makes them a perfect fit for our company,” said Chris Eldridge, CEO and Founder of America’s Mattress, Hawaii. “I look forward to working with Sleep Train to continue to grow America’s Mattress’ business and employee-owner team together.”
Eldridge, as well as the other America’s Mattress employees, will be remaining with the company, bringing Sleep Train’s employee owner count to more than 1,600. Financial details of the deal are not being disclosed.
