Appointments are still available for Saturday morning’s low-cost spay/neuter clinic for cats. The clinic will be hosted at the Eagles Lodge in Keaau, and is sponsored by Hui Pono Holoholona.
Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. The cost will be $35 for females and $25 for males.
“No money? No excuse, as some financial assistance is available,” said Frannie Pueo, founder of the all-volunteer, nonprofit organization.
“We accept checks and credit cards. Please register your cat(s); call 968-8279 or email@hphhawaii.org.”
Hui Pono Holoholona “helps the community to be pet responsible via education and by making available affordable spay and neuter for cats and dogs,” Pueo explained.
“If you are managing a feral cat colony and need help, or need to borrow traps for this clinic, please give us a call,” she said. “There are not enough homes for all the cats and dogs born in this community; thousands are euthanized every month.
“We invite everyone to be a part of the humane solution: Be your pet’s hero,” Pueo continued. “Spay-and-neuter funds need to be stretched over as many animals as possible, so we ask you to contribute what you can to the cost and/or volunteer, if you can.”
