Second baseman Stephen Ventimilia and center fielder Kaeo Aliviado sparked the Rainbow Warriors (15-21, 3-9 Big West) from the top of the lineup, each finishing 2 for 4. Ventimilia reached base four times and scored three runs, and Aliviado scored twice with an RBI double.
Squier (3-3) struck out six and allowed a run on seven hits and two walks. Juliene Jones finished up with two scoreless innings.
The Matadors (15-24, 4-8) burned through six pitchers, and John Salas took the loss.
Jordan Richartz, Trevor Podratz and LJ Brewster also hit doubles for UH, Marc Flores drove in three runs and Austin Wobrock was 2 for 5.
Softball
Cal Poly swept a doubleheader in Honolulu, extending UH’s losing streak to seven, it’s longest since 2009.
In a 7-6, extra-inning loss, Heather Morales (9-8) went a career-high eight innings but surrendered a go-ahead RBI single to Emily Ceccacci in the eighth.
Kayla Wartner hit a three-run home run and an RBI double for the Rainbow Warriors (19-22, 4-8 Big West), and Leisha Li’ili’i hit a solo homer.
Jillian Anderson brought in two runners with and infield single in the second inning and the Mustangs (25-16, 7-5) never trailed to win the second game 4-1.
Loie Kesterson (10-11) took the loss, giving up nine hits in a complete game.
