The public is invited to two days of Bible lectures Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multipurpose Stadium in Hilo. The theme of the two-day event is “God’s Word Is Beneficial for Teaching,” based on 2 Timothy 3:16. Most of the speakers are from the Big Island. The assembly opens at 8 a.m. each day, with the first lecture at 9:40 a.m. Saturday’s session concludes at 3:55 p.m., and Sunday’s session ends at 3:30 p.m.
Some of the highlights will be a talk at 10 a.m. Saturday on “The Grand Instructor Teaches Us to Benefit Ourselves,” followed by a talk at 11:25 a.m. on “Dedication and Baptism,” and a 1:45 p.m. symposium, “Reject Strange Teachings.” Some of the subjects of the afternoon symposium will be “The Teaching of Balaam,” “You Must Hate Your Enemy,” “Build Bigger Storehouses” and “You Are Bound to Be Like God.”
Sunday’s highlights will include a talk at 1:50 p.m. by Richard Colvin, Hawaii District overseer. His public address will be on “Who Is Rocking the Nations, and How?” The concluding talk will be “Work Hard To Remain In Jehovah’s Teaching!”
In 2 Timothy chapter 3, just before writing the words on which the theme of this program is based, Paul described the critical times that would characterize the last days. He wrote: “Wicked men and impostors will advance from bad to worse, misleading and being misled.” (2 Tim. 3:13).
Provisions are made for those who have a hearing impairment. The program will be broadcast on FM radio in the facility and anyone with a small FM receiver can get the program this way.
The meeting is free and no collections are ever taken. As Jesus said at Matthew 10:8, 9: “You received free, give free. Do not procure gold or silver or copper for your girdle purses.”
