Andrew Hartery Eaton, 58, died April 22. Born in Maine, he was a licensed practical nurse and came to Hawaii in 2002. Masashi “Porky” Hatada, 88, died April 13 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a co-owner of Hatada and Robert’s bakeries, World War II U.S. Army veteran, and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan, Lower Kawailani Kumiai, Crescent City Lions Club, and American Legion Yukio Okutsu Post #16. The Rev. Minnie Halekulani Elderts Kaawaloa, 91, died April 10 at her home. Born in Kaiakea, she retired from Hawaii Volcanoes National Parks as a cultural demonstrator/interpreter, was a minister at Kamauloa O Ka Malamalama Hoomana Naauao Church and was an intern/cultural specialist for the Smithsonian Institute and she belonged to Aha Puhala O Puna, Kalapana Community Organization, Puna Hui Ohana, Leiana O Puna, Kalapana Gardens Association, and Alu Like Kupuna Program. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. May 1 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8-9 a.m. May 2 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel.
