The state Department of Public Safety says a scam is still operating in which individuals are calling people and claiming to be sheriff’s deputies serving warrants for people who didn’t show up for jury duty or pay a ticket.
They are offering to clear the warrant if people will pay for their product or service.
According to a written DPS statement, sheriff’s deputies do not call people about jury duty warrants or solicit the purchase of anything.
Anyone receiving such a call is asked to call the state Sheriff Division at (808) 586-1352.
