What happens when loose fibers meet a sheer fabric, then get together with Hawaiian botanical prints?

Fused Fiber Felting &Botanical Printing is slated for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25 at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus.
The fee is $245, plus a $45 supply fee. Pre-registration is required and must be made no later than one week prior to class. Students will be sent a list of supplies to bring.
Join visiting artist Merridee Smith in a fun and intensive introduction to fused fiber felting embellished with Hawaiian botanical prints. The two day workshop will explore the process of fusing fibers, dying and finishing with the method of botanical printing.
Each student will leave with their own one-of-a-kind wearable art.
A welcome potluck reception for the artist and slide show presentation will be hosted at 5 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus. Smith will be displaying and selling several of her felted pieces.
Currently Smith is working with wool, silk and other fibers to create works that represent earth forms, images of the sea and lava. Her studio is located in the historic Carnegie Library in Auburn, Calif.
