Roger Delamen Ambago, 64, of Captain Cook died April 28 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Naguimba, Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a sous chef at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel and member of Central Kona Union Church and its worship team, an organizer of special events and a driver for the elderly. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 16 at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 17 at the church. Funeral service at 10 a.m., followed by burial in the church cemetery. Luncheon and fellowship to follow in the church’s hall. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Born in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker, farmer, a seamstress for the Royal Court, kumu Etua Lopes halau and kumu Wayne’s halau, master lauhala weaver, hula dancer at Kona Inn, Uncle Billy’s and Bamboo Restaurant, Hulihee Palace docent, tireless community volunteer and organizer, and member of St. Michael’s Church, its choir and ukulele group. Celebration of life will 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at Hulihee Palace.
