Josephine Barney, 87, of Kailua-Kona died April 24 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker, farmer, a seamstress for the Royal Court, kumu Etua Lopes halau and kumu Wayne’s halau, master lauhala weaver, hula dancer at Kona Inn, Uncle Billy’s and Bamboo Restaurant, Hulihee Palace docent, tireless community volunteer and organizer, and member of St. Michael’s Church, its choir and ukulele group. Celebration of life will 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at Hulihee Palace.
