As initial recipients of this grant award, the Akaka Falls Lions Club wants to solicit any interested nonprofit organization, whose mission is serving those residing in the geographic boundaries from Ookala to Hilo (including and up to Haihai Street).
The Akaka Falls Lions are in search of worthy projects within these geographic boundaries to meet the Lions International Mission, “We Serve.”
The club wants to partner with a selected organization to serve a targeted population encountering hardship here in East Hawaii.
In addition to this grant, the members of the Akaka Falls Lions Club will provide a total of 100 community service hours to your organization.
The Lions are particularly interested in supporting initiatives that address the following social concerns: vision and/or hearing assistance, prevention of homelessness, health-related ailment/disease prevention, domestic violence awareness and prevention and mental health support.
If you are interested, contact Ben Cockett (chairperson) at 443-7711 and an application will be sent to you.
All application must be completed and returned/postmarked by June 13.
