The public is invited to turn out at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for the Pahoa Regional Schools Booster Club Spirit Parade honoring athletes from all Pahoa-area schools.

Students, parents and other supporters of Pahoa High and Intermediate, Kua O Ka La and HAAS, the Hawaii Academy of Arts and Sciences, will be wearing their respective school colors.

“Please join us in celebrating the students, athletics and clubs. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m., with Village Road being closed from 9 a.m. through 10:30 a.m.,” said booster club President Mark Hinshaw.

Parking will be available at the Pahoa Community Center. The parade will be led by Gov. Neil Abercrombie and feature the Hawaii County Band as it meanders through the historic village, ending at Sacred Heart Church where a steak barbecue will be hosted by the boosters and local Lions Club “in support of all schools in 96778,” said Hinshaw.

“If you wish to be in the parade, line-up begins at 9 a.m. We hope to see you there,” he said.
