A 69-year-old man died today in a vehicle wreck near Mountain View.
The man was driving in the Hilo direction near mile-marker 13 when another vehicle travelling in the Volcano direction collided with his vehicle after crossing the center line, said police Sgt. Christopher Gali.
A woman passenger suffered internal injuries and was transported to Hilo Medical Center, he said.
The man’s hometown was unknown.
The wreck was reported at 1:45 p.m., Gali said.
It was cleared by about 4 p.m., he said.
