Robert Ray VanHubbard, 61, died May 9 at his residence in Papaaloa. Born in Washington, he was a carpenter and welder. Keith “Fuki” Fukunaga, 60, died May 9 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was an assistant manager at Mr. K’s Recycle and Redemption Center and an entrepreneur. James “Sonny” Allen Ackerman, 87, of Kealakekua, died April 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired assistant airline manager for Hawaiian Airlines, founding member of Calvary Community Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division.
