Betty Jane “Aunty Betty” Cypriano, 78, of Honokaa died May 14 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Paauhau, she was a retired cashier for Sure Save Supermarket in Waimea and a member of our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. Survived by daughters, Susan Clark and Barbara Clark of Arizona; sister, Geraldine “Gerry” Johnson of California; brother, Anthony “Tony” Ferreira of California; step-daughters, Renee (Michael) of Honokaa and Kathy Cypriano of Oahu; step-sons, Keith Cypriano of Ahualoa and Aaron Cypriano of Ainaloa; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Pahala, he was a retired cultivation clerk for the former Hawaiian Agricultural Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II with Company A &F, 100th Infantry Battalion, was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Hawaii Chapter, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #6 and recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal and Purple Heart.
