The 2014 Hawaii State Career &Technical Education Performance-Based Assessments were hosted April 8-29 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel on Oahu.
The business and marketing plan performance assessments are a joint program developed by the state Department of Education and the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship in the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Students spend the year developing a comprehensive plan detailing their new business venture or marketing strategy proposal to increase revenue. Students then present their business and marketing plans to a panel of business and industry professionals.
In this statewide assessment, the following Waiakea High School students earned awards and recognition: Yan Ying Huang and Keaohuana’oli Rivera-Leong, Team ASH (marketing plan for Alarm Hawaii), Competency Recognition, and Adam Onishi and Jennifer Taniguchi, second-place plaque and $300 cash prize.
