In celebration of the statewide Children’s Summer Reading Program, HouseMart Ace Hardware and HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts will present “Hardware Science,” a free event, at eight Big Island public libraries from today through Wednesday, June 18. Children ages 8 and older are invited to explore all things related to science and will learn some Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts &Math (STEAM) concepts.
In this one-hour program, children will learn how to think like a scientist and experience live science demonstrations using simple equipment and tools available at hardware and craft stores. This year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program theme “Fizz, Boom, Read” will allow children — preschool-age to those entering grade 6 this fall – to experiment with building lava lamps, launching rockets and creating a solar system mobile.
