Betty Jane “Aunty Betty” Cypriano, 78, of Honokaa died May 14 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Paauhau, she was a retired cashier for Sure Save Supermarket in Waimea and a member of our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Private graveside services planned. Survived by husband, Eugene DeRego Cypriano of Honokaa; daughters, Susan Clark and Barbara Clark of Arizona; sister, Geraldine “Gerry” Johnson of California; brother, Anthony “Tony” Ferreira of California; step-daughters, Renee (Michael) Farmer of Honokaa and Kathy Cypriano of Oahu; step-sons, Keith Cypriano of Ahualoa, Aaron Cypriano of Ainaloa, and Rusty Cummins of Honokaa; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lohekamakaula “Lohe” Kaaloa, 74, of Hilo, died April 18 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a farmer, masonry contractor and an executive assistant for the former Mayor Stephen Yamashiro and served in the United States Marine Corps. Friends may call at Uncle Robert’s Awa Club in Kaimu, Kalapana, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday for a celebration of life, followed by lunch. Casual attire. No flowers. Survived by son, Lohekamakaula “Lohe” S. (Angela) Kaaloa of Honolulu; brothers, Edward (Aggie) Kaaloa of Honolulu, and John (Janice) Kaaloa of Kona; sisters, Mary Mendiola of Hilo, Haaheo Gilman and Wanda Jean Reyes, both of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
