Fourth-graders receive pet treats
BOYERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania school district says an aide has been suspended after she tricked students into eating pet snacks by telling them they were cookies.
About 75 fourth-graders at New Hanover-Upper Frederick Elementary School received the pet treats during recess Thursday. No injuries were reported.
Student Gabriel Moore said the aide first joked they were dog treats, then told students they were actually cookies. Gabriel ate three.
Boyertown Area School District officials notified parents Friday. They didn’t disclose the type of pet treat but said they weren’t harmful to people. The aide has been suspended pending an internal investigation.
Mariachi band follows principal
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Something seemed a little bit different about Principal John Becchio as he made his rounds at Santa Barbara High School this week.
Was it the trumpeter? The violinist? Or the guitar and guitarron players? Probably all four.
The mariachi group that greeted Becchio in his office Tuesday morning and followed him around for an hour was a prank played by this year’s senior class.
The Santa Barbara Unified School District posted photos and video of the prank on its website this week.
It’s not the first such musical prank. Last year, seniors at West Linn High in Oregon hired a mariachi band to follow their principal around for a few hours.
