HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s largest union isn’t endorsing a candidate for governor in the upcoming primary election.
The Hawaii Government Employees Association said Friday it’s encouraging members to support and vote for any candidate in the race.
It’s also not endorsing any of the candidates running to represent urban Honolulu in the 1st Congressional District.
For Senate, the union is endorsing Brian Schatz. It’s endorsing Tulsi Gabbard for the 2nd Congressional District.
In the race for lieutenant governor, the HGEA is endorsing Shan Tsutsui.
The union has 42,000 members and is the largest labor union in Hawaii. It represents state and county employees in eight bargaining units.
