Patrick “Pat” Shunji Masutomi, 79, of Kailua-Kona died June 11 at Galanto Residential Care Home. Born in Kealakekua, he retired as regional vice president for American Savings Bank. He was also employed by the Kona Community Federal Credit Union and First Insurance Company. He was former president of Kona Hongwanji Mission, member of the Hawaii County Board of Ethics and Jury Commission, Shinwakai, Kona Jaycees, Kona Mauka Rotary Club, Yamaguchi Kenjin-Kai, ’71 Golf Club and Akitsu Kumiai. He refereed, coached and umpired various baseball and basketball teams and was involved with the Boy Scout of America and Kona Krafts. Friends may call at 2 p.m. July 12 at Kona HongwanjiBuddhist Temple in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. No flowers. No koden.
