Valerie Theresa Kossow, 89, of Kailua-Kona died June 19 at a private care facility. Born in Los Angeles, she was a telephone operator during World War II and former head statistician for NASA. Service and burial noon Friday, July 11, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Survived by son, Glenn (Barbara) Kossow of Kailua-Kona; sister, Margaret Kanov of Tujunga Hills, Calif.; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
