Hawaii Community College’s Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET) will offer “Natural Farming” courses in Hilo.
James Rushing will teach farmers and gardeners about natural farming from a biologist’s point of view. He will explain why natural farming has a positive effect on plant and animal growth, and he will detail the complex biological processes involved in natural farming in an easy to understand and simple way.
The class subjects include an introduction to the process, amendment production and application, chicken production and swine production. Classes are scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
The “Introduction to Natural Farming” course is slated for July 26 and Aug. 23, with a tuition cost of $65. The “Natural Farming Amendment Production and Application” class is set Aug. 2 and 30, with a tuition cost of $85.
The “Natural Farming Chicken Production” class will be Aug. 9 and Sept. 6, with a tuition cost of $39. The “Natural Farming Swine Production” class will be Aug. 16 and Sept. 13, with a tuition cost of $39.
