Artists from around the state are invited to enter The Hawaii Craftsman 47th Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition, which will be presented Oct. 10-Nov. 1 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.

Artists from all islands can enter traditional or nontraditional, functional or nonfunctional crafts with a fresh approach in categories of clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood or mixed media.

Coordinators will present $2,500 in cash prizes. To make it easier for artists to enter, there will be three locations around the Big Island for intake.

Final jurying will be in Volcano Village. Selected Big Island entries will be shipped to Oahu. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, judging will be done at the VAC Niaulani Campus, with intake from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and judging from 1-3:30 p.m.

A free lecture will follow from 3:45-4:45 p.m., with a reception, potluck and pickup of artwork from 4:45-5:30 p.m.

Call Patti Pease Johnson at 966-8861 for details or email pattij3@hawaiiantel.net.

Work needs to be wrapped securely for transport to Volcano and dropped off at these Big Island locations:

• From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Hugh Jenkins and Stephanie Ross’s Honokaa Glass Studio. Call 775-1167. To reach the studio, turn mauka at Tex’s Drive Inn, at mile 43. The studio is six-tenths of a mile up from the highway. Email hujenkins@hawaiiantel.net.

If you are not going to be present for jurying and pickup of work, include necessary instructions with your piece(s).
