Koichi Tohei introduced Aikido to Hawaii in 1953. To focus on the study of Ki and the coordination of mind and body, he founded the Ki Society and established the Hawaii Ki Federation under the leadership of Chief Instructor Christopher Curtis.

Curtis, 8th Dan and holder of the highest Ki ranking of Okuden, will conduct a free workshop hosted by the Hilo Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the Waiakea Recreation Center, 1634 Kamehameha Ave.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. and participants are requested to sign in by 5:30 p.m.
