New Hope Angels baseball will hold sign-ups for T-ball (ages 4-6), coach-pitch (7-8), Pinto (8), Mustang (9-10) and Bronco (11-12) on Sunday and July 20th from 7 a.m. to noon and July 16 from 5:15–6:30 p.m.

Registration is at New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, 840 Kupulau Road in Hilo.

Please bring a photocopy of a birth certificate.

Honokaa High

fall tryouts

Honokaa High will hold tryouts for the following fall sports.

— Girls volleyball: 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at Hilo Armory.

— Football: 3 p.m. July 21, varsity locker room.

— Boys/girls cross country: 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at locker room.

All interested athletes in grades 9-12 must have an updated physical and parental permission with an emergency card on file at the school before to any participation.

football meeting

There will be a mandatory informational meeting for parents of interested Hilo High football players Thursday at the school cafeteria.

Information regarding program details and expectations for the 2014 season will be shared.

Football clinics

at Konawaena

High performance speed and strength workouts for boys and girls, featuring Kamehameha-Maui coach Cody Nakamura and Oakland Raiders linebacker Kaluka Malavia will be held July 14-18 at Konawaena High.

Clinics for elementary and intermediate students will be held from 8-10:30 a.m., while high schoolers will go from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The registration fee is $75, and $100 after Saturday.

Panaewa Alii

sign-ups ongoing

Panaewa Alii Football Association is accepting tackle registrations for the upcoming season.

Divisions of play are Mitey-Mite (ages 7-9, weighing 45-90 pounds), Peewee (9-11, 75-120 or 12, 75-100) and Midgets (12-14, 105-170 or 15, 105-140).

Each participant is required to have a 2014 dated physical, copy of birth certificate, medical card, fourth-quarter report card and wallet size photo. Participant’s age is determined on July 31.

Registration packets are available Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., or they can be requested at PanaewaAlii14@gmail.com.
