A fundraising tennis event for eight-year old Dara Nagata will be held on Friday, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Edith Kanakaole Stadium. The event is being coordinated by friends of the Nagata family.
Dara has been at Kapiolani Medical Center since the beginning of June with a serious medical condition. She is an avid tennis player and a student at Kamehameha Schools.
The fundraiser will include a tennis clinic for juniors and adults as well as Hit for Prizes for all. The schedule is as follows:
— 6 to 7 p.m., Clinic for beginner and advanced beginner juniors.
— 7 to 8:30 p.m., Clinic for adults and intermediate/advanced juniors.
— 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., Hit for prizes (junior and adults).
Cost for the clinic is $20 for adults and $15 for juniors. Tickets for the clinic will include a dinner. Dinner tickets will be available for those not participating in the clinic.
Tickets for Hit for Prizes will be sold at the event and prized donations are being accepted.

Hilo Pony All-Stars

The state champion Hilo Pony All-Stars will play in the West Zone Pony League Tournament, July 31-Aug. 3 in Whittier, Calif.
The Hilo All-Stars, players ages 13-14, will be holding fundraisers to help with the team’s expenses to compete in the Zone tournament. The following events are scheduled:
— Saturday, July 19, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., car wash (by donation) and rummage sale at Holy Trinity Church, 2282 Kanoelehua Ave. in Hilo.
— Sunday, July 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., teri-beef plate sale, $8 per plate, KTA Puainako, 50 E. Puainako St., Hilo.
On-going through Aug. 15:
— Recyclable donations at Mr. K’s and Atlas Recycling Centers in Hilo are being accepted. Just let the recycling center know to credit the Hilo Pony All-Stars — 2014 Pony Team.

New Hope baseball
New Hope Angels baseball sign-up for T-ball (ages 4-6), coach pitch (7-8), Pinto (8), Mustang (9-10) and Bronco (11-12) will be held Wednesday from 5:15 to 6 p:30 p.m., and Sunday July 20, between 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Hilo at 840 Kupulau Rd.
