The Wailoa Razorbacks will hold Pop Warner registration and packet pick-up from 4:30-6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at Mooheau Park Field in Hilo.
Divisions are Mitey-Mites (ages 7-9), peewees (9-12) and midgets (12-15).
Practice starts Aug. 1 and the fee is $150.

Events on tap for Hilo runners
Starting this Wednesday, Big Island Running Company in Hilo will hold group runs every Wednesday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (6:30 a.m.).
In addition, the store is also starting its Couch to 5K program on Wednesday, and a separate training group is forming for anyone interested in running the Hilo Bay 5K on Sept. 7.
A training group for the Honolulu marathon will begin in the middle of August.
The store is hosting its grand opening Aug. 1-2 at 308 Kamehameha Ave., Suite 105.

Waiakea fall tryout schedule
Waiakea announces its fall tryout schedule:
Football: started on Monday, continues Friday at 2 p.m. Practice starts at 3 p.m. Aug. 4
Air riflery: Starts at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the school gym
Girls volleyball: Starts at 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the school gym
Cross country: Starts at 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the physical education locker room.
All athletes are required to have a completed Department of Education physical form signed by a doctor and a signed parental-consent form.
Any athlete who is not able to attend tryouts is required to contact the coach within the first two days of the tryout.

State disc golf finals at Naniloa
The Hawaii State Disc Golf Championships will be held Friday-Sunday at Hilo Naniloa Golf Course.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Friday and a doubles competition will be held at noon.
There is a players’ meeting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by 36 holes. After a 9 a.m. players’ meeting Sunday, 18 holes will be played.

Setting the record straight
Michael Schwertfeger of Fontana Dojo California finished second in the open men’s black belt division in kumite at the International Karate League’s Tournament of Champions at Edith Kanaka‘ole Multipurpose Stadium.
