Mary Callie Puaala Garmon, 48, of Waimea died June 16 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Oceanside, Calif., she was a Hawaiian studies teacher for Waimea and Parker Elementary schools and Waimea Middle School, and was involved in numerous community organizations and events, including Kamehameha School’s summer program at Waimea Elementary School, Honokaa Relay for Life, Honokaa High School Ensemble Alumni concert, Moku O Keawe International Hula Festival, Edith Kanakaokle Foundation and Clyde Kindy Sproat Falsetto Contest and Hawaii Island Festival.
