The state Department of Human Services is providing assistance to food stamp recipients affected by Tropical Storm Iselle at four locations.
At the locations, users of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can request reimbursement for actual dollar value of food destroyed by storm-related power outages. The reimbursement can’t exceed the household’s current monthly allotment.
The locations are open 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and will last through Aug. 22.
The sites are Hawaiian Shores Community Center, Nanawale Estates Community Association office, Leilani Estates Community Center Association office and Hawaiian Paradise Park, Church of the Nazarene.
The locations will close Aug. 15 for the Admissions Day holiday.
The deadline to submit reimbursement requests is Aug. 20.
To qualify for reimbursement, SNAP recipients must provide a signed statement that includes: the name of storm and dates of impact; general list of food items lost; time without power; a statement that household is aware of penalties for misrepresenting facts; and statement that household is aware replacement benefit will not be issued if statement is not signed and returned within 10 days.
