The Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art will host the annual Trash Art Show in September. Ira Ono, founder and juror, and the museum will present a gala opening at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. The public is invited. The show will be up from Sept. 6-24. Admission is free.

Interested creative folks may submit their take on “trash art” for the competition either on Friday, Aug. 29, or Saturday, Aug. 30. A Juried Trash Recycle Competition will also take place on opening night, which is open to ages 18 and older. Awards will be presented for best costume, best concept and best use of recycled materials.
