Drivers can expect to run into a detour in October while construction of the Pahoa roundabout begins, according to the state Department of Transportation.
While no start date has been selected, DOT is advising motorists to prepare for the detour and traffic impacts.
The $4.8 million project will put a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road.
A 24-hour detour will be in place onto Pahoa Village Road and Kahakai Boulevard sometime in mid- to late October, according to DOT.
A temporary traffic signal will be in place at the intersection of those two roads.
A left turn pocket will be created for Pahoa Marketplace.
Work will finish in summer 2015.
A community meeting regarding the project is anticipated to occur in October.
