The Arc of Hilo has received a $12,000 grant from the Cooke Foundation for the re-roofing of the mauka side of the main administration building at the Waianuenue Avenue location in Hilo.

This project will be the second phase of roof and gutter replacement, as the initial phase included only the makai side of the building. Once completed, The Arc of Hilo will have a new 24-gauge, pre-painted, zincalume, standing seam roof, with a five year warranty against leakage.

CEO Mike Gleason stated “Our re-roofing project began in 2013, and we are excited to be able to complete the upgrade to our main Administration facility. Our long term goal is to ensure a stable and energy efficient future for The Arc of Hilo and the clients we serve. We have secured adequate funding for the installation of a PV system, and selected a contractor.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, the staff and clients of The Arc, we extend a warm mahalo to the Cooke Foundation for their generous donation and improving the facilities which serve the special needs population of the Big Island,” Gleason said.
