Jose Lobaton doubled among his three hits, drove in a run and scored twice for the Nationals, who took the rubber game against the Giants despite a labored four-inning outing from starter Stephen Strasburg.
Craig Stammen (4-4) allowed a run in two innings of relief for NL-East leading Washington, which has won 12 of 13. Danny Espinosa also homered for the Nationals.
Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt (3-2) allowed five hits and five runs in the sixth without retiring a batter after the departure of starter Ryan Vogelsong.

CINCINNATI — Alfredo Simon pitched seven strong innings to earn his first win in eight starts since the All-Star break and Todd Frazier homered for the Reds.
Simon (13-8), who was 0-5 since pitching in the All-Star Game, opened with six shutout innings before yielding a run in the seventh. He allowed five hits with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings.
Logan Ondrusek allowed Evan Gattis’s 20th homer leading off the ninth and Jonathan Broxton gave up Jason Heyward’s RBI single before coaxing Justin Upton into grounding into a base-loaded forceout for his seventh save for the Reds.
The Reds have won back-to-back games for the first time since winning three straight against Cleveland August 5-7.

PHILADELPHIA — Jimmy Rollins homered and Jerome Williams tossed eight strong innings to lead the Phillies over the Cardinals.
Jhonny Peralta and Oscar Taveras had a pair of hits for St. Louis, which lost for just the third time in 11 games.

MILWAUKEE — Mike Fiers held Pittsburgh to two hits in seven innings for his fourth straight win since coming up from Triple-A, and the Brewers avoided a three-game sweep at home.
Fiers (4-1) fanned seven. He allowed Starling Marte’s two-run shot in the second before retiring 16 of the next 17 batters.

CHICAGO — Tsuyoshi Wada allowed Steve Pearce’s leadoff homer in the seventh inning for Baltimore’s only hit, and the Cubs beat the AL East-leading Orioles for a three-game sweep.
Wada (4-1) got a popout after the homer that landed on Waveland Avenue and departed to a standing ovation from the crowd of 32,774. He struck out a career-high eight and walked one in 6 1-3 innings in his eighth career start.

LOS ANGELES — Lucas Duda homered twice, drove in a career-high five runs and was involved in the New York Mets’ first triple play in over four seasons, allowing a grieving Bartolo Colon to breeze to a victory over the Dodgers.
Colon (12-10) gave up two runs and five hits over six innings and struck out five in his first start since his mother Adriana passed away on Monday from breast cancer.

PHOENIX — Yasmani Grandal homered and drove in four runs, Ian Kennedy won in his second game back at Chase Field, and the Padres beat the Diamondbacks.
After struggling his first game back in the desert a year ago, Kennedy (10-11) was sharp against his former team before tiring late, striking out six in 5 2-3 innings.
ROCKIES 7, MARLINS 4
DENVER — Nolan Arenado hit a two-run homer and Christian Bergman pitched into the seventh to earn his first major league win, helping the Rockies beat the Marlins.
Bergman (1-2) was reinstated from the disabled list earlier in the day after missing 51 games with a broken left hand. He gave up nine hits and four runs in his first start since June 20.
INDIANS 3, ASTROS 1
CLEVELAND — Trevor Bauer took a shutout into the seventh and won for the first time since July 18, leading the Indians to a victory over the Astros.
Bauer (5-7) held Houston to four hits and struck out nine.
Cody Allen, the Indians’ fourth pitcher, worked out of ninth-inning trouble for his 17th save.
Jon Singleton’s RBI double in the eighth off Bryan Shaw scored Houston’s only run. Brett Oberholtzer (4-9) allowed three runs in 6 2-3 innings.

NEW YORK — Pinch-hitter Brian McCann lined a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning, and the Yankees beat the White Sox to complete a three-game sweep.
Ichiro Suzuki had a two-run single and the Yankees rallied for their fourth straight victory following a 2-7 slide.

BOSTON — Dustin Ackley had three hits and scored three runs, Seattle’s bullpen was sharp for the second straight day and the Mariners handed the Red Sox their eighth straight loss.
Ackley had a triple, double and single, finishing 13 for 25 in six games against Boston this season. The Mariners completed their first-ever sweep in a series of three or more games in Fenway Park.
RANGERS 3, ROYALS 1
ARLINGTON, Texas — Scott Baker won as a starter for the first time in more than three years and the Rangers beat the AL Central-leading Royals to avoid a series sweep.
Adrian Beltre put Texas ahead to stay with an RBI double in the first. Beltre had his fifth straight mulithit game.
Baker (2-3) went five innings in a spot start.
Jason Vargas (10-6) allowed 11 hits and walked four in his six innings.

MINNEAPOLIS — Victor Martinez homered and had four RBIs, leading the Tigers over the Twins.
Rajai Davis also connected for the Tigers, who have won two straight to earn a split of this four-game series.
Minnesota scored 32 runs in winning the first two games of the series and Detroit had 21 in taking the last two.
RAYS 2, BLUE JAYS 1 (10)
TORONTO — Evan Longoria singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, and the Rays beat the Blue Jays.
Facing Sergio Santos (0-3), who was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo earlier in the day, Ben Zobrist walked to begin the 10th and went to third on Logan Forsythe’s flyball that Nolan Reimold dropped for a two-base error. Longoria followed with a groundball single to left, scoring Zobrist.
