The 15th annual Queen Liliuokalani Festival will take place next month at Liliuokalani Gardens in Hilo.
The free event, which celebrates Queen Liliuokalani’s birthday, will occur from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.
It starts with a mass hula featuring more than 400 dancers throughout the park. More than 50,000 orchid blossoms will fall from the sky during the performance.
The event also includes music, arts, crafts, food, demonstrations, games for children and cultural activities. Special activities and demonstrations include a Japanese Tea Ceremony, a jumping castle, water slide, nose flute making, coconut weaving, Hawaiian printing and stamp pads, Portuguese horse shoe, Konani game, Hawaiian herbs and Lomi Lomi.
Entertainment includes Darlene Ahuna, Kukulu Kumuhana, Taishoji Taiko, Komakakino with Halau Haakea A Kala, the Waiakea Ukulele Band, Lito Archangel, and the Keawe Trio + one.
