HONOLULU (AP) — A settlement was reached in a lawsuit by the family of a 3-year-old girl who went into a coma during a dental procedure in Kailua, Oahu, and later died.
Terms of the settlement between Finley Boyle’s family and the dentist’s insurance company were not made public.
Boyle family attorney Rick Fried said they are pleased with the settlement amount.
Finley went to see dentist Lilly Geyer in December for 10 cavities. She suffered a heart attack after she was given a combination of sedatives and lapsed into a coma. She died a month later.
An autopsy report concluded the heart attack was likely the result of the five drugs.
Geyer has since closed her Kailua office. Her attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
