The Matson Foundation is donating $10,000 directly to Hawaii Island United Way for disaster relief and also has established a separate special program to match donations from all Matson employees to charitable, tax-exempt relief/aid agencies assisting with relief efforts for Hurricane Iselle on Hawaii Island.
The foundation will match up to $100 of each employee’s personal donations to any 501(c)3 charity providing disaster aid to the hurricane’s Big Island victims, up to a total of $5,000. The Matson Foundation’s match will be donated to Hawaii Island United Way.
“Matson’s relationship with the Big Island dates back to our founding in 1882,” said Matt Cox, president and CEO. “We want to help support relief efforts for those who were seriously impacted by Hurricane Iselle, and feel that a cash donation is the most effective way to quickly reach as many as possible.”
