A 21-year-old Pepeekeo man already in jail facing burglary and theft charges has been charged with another burglary.

The latest charge stems from a reported burglary Aug. 31. On that date, neighbors reported that they saw an unknown man arriving at and exiting a home on Andrade Road in Pepeekeo while the owners were away. When they confronted the suspect, he ran away.

Investigation led to the arrest of Scott Taira, who was already in custody, charged with burglary and theft for a break-in Sept. 4 on Maukaloa Street in Pepeekeo.

Taira was charged with first-degree burglary for the Aug. 31 break-in. His bail for that offense was set at $5,000.

His initial court appearance for the latest charge was scheduled for Thursday.
