Scott Hare of Hawai’i Koa Naturals on the Big Island has taken “Best of Show” at Hawaii’s Woodshow 2014, the 22nd annual event sponsored by the Hawai’i Forest Industry Association.

As usual, there were many artists, types of wood, and styles of woodworking featured at the Honolulu Art Museum. Hare, a well-known, accomplished wood artist, entered three pieces, two fully carved “pig boards,” and the one which won the award, a large milo-lidded calabash entitled “Are We Next?” featuring extinct birds.
