HONOLULU (AP) — A former University of Hawaii Foundation employee convicted of identity theft was spared prison time.
Dodge Watson, 34, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to three years probation.
He also was fined $2,000 and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.
Watson pleaded guilty to identity theft in June. Prosecutors say he stole $2,000 to pay a gambling debt.
Prosecutors say he forged signatures of other foundation employees to get approval for a $2,000 scholarship check made out to his bookie.
Watson has paid back the money he took.
