HONOLULU (AP) — A Waipahu care home operator pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of an 88-year-old woman.
The state attorney general’s office said Jennifer Polintan is expected to be sentenced to a year in jail for recklessly causing the death of Nona Mosman in 2013.
An investigation found that Polintan worked full-time at Schofield Barracks and wasn’t around to care for Mosman, who was bedridden.
Prosecutors say Mosman was left with people who were not qualified to care for her and that her health declined rapidly because of neglect.
As part of a plea agreement, Polintan will be sentenced on Jan. 7 to a year in jail. She must also pay nearly $9,000 restitution to Mosman’s family and nearly $5,000 to the state.
