meet Wednesday
A general basketball officials meeting for the 2014-15 Big Island Interscholastic Federation will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Lu`au Hale in Hilo.
Rule books will distributed at the meeting with the submission of independent contractors agreements and the annual $25 fee. Checks should be written to Hawaii Island Sports Officials Association.

Baseball tourney
seeking teams
The Andrews Pony Braves and Indians are looking for teams for their Veterans Day Baseball Tournament scheduled for Nov. 7-11.
The tournament — open to teams in the Pinto, Mustang and Bronco divisions — will be held at the Walter Victor Baseball Complex, Wong Stadium, Andrews Gym and Carvalho Park.
There will be a maximum of eight teams per division.

Golf tourney
Oct. 26 at Muni
Hawaii Island Golf Association/Hilo Muni Golf Club will hold a six-person team tournament on Sunday, Oct. 26, at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
All eligible players must be HIGA members and must have their HIGA handicap index posted on or before Wednesday. The first 24 teams entered by Oct. 21 will be eligible to play in the tournament.
The entry fee is $120 per six-person team. The fee covers the cost of a $6 bento lunch at Kim’s restaurant at the Muni and part of cash prizes for winning teams and individual players. Green fees and golf cart charges are not included in the entry fee.
Make payment, in checks only, to Hawaii Island Golf Association and submit payment and entry forms to the Hilo Muni Pro Shop.

Lyman Museum
Golf Tournament
The sixth annual Lyman Museum Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 25 at Kohanaiki in Kailua-Kona.
Registration begins at 10:15 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. for two-person teams playing a scramble format.
The team entry fee is $550 and tee sponsorship is $150. Platinum and gold sponsorships are also available and include a dual/family membership to the Lyman Museum. All proceeds benefit the Lyman Museum and Mission House.
The deadline to sign up is Oct. 13.

UHH run/walk set for Dec. 6
The University of Hawaii at Hilo will hold its inaugural Holiday Lava Run/Walk on Dec. 6.
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on the Campus Center Plaza, with the race kicking off at 8 a.m.
According to a release, “the 5-kilometer course is designed to give participants of all ages the chance to explore the campus in a family-friendly, festive run/walk.”
Teams must have at least four participants.
Early registration before Sept. 30 is $25; entries received from Oct. 1 on will be charged $30.
