An aerial survey performed Saturday morning showed that the June 27 lava flow front continues to be active and has advanced approximately 50 yards since Friday.
A narrow finger at the flow front was moving along the tree line and the burning activity with that was producing a significant amount of smoke. There was no brush fire threat and the burning was limited to the edges of the flow only.
The flow activity did not pose an immediate threat to area communities and no evacuation is needed at this time. Area residents will be given adequate notice to safely evacuate should that be necessary.
