The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering a half-day workshop — “General Care of Backyard Citrus and Avocado” from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in UH-Hilo’s Science and Technology Building, Room 108.

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering a half-day workshop — “General Care of Backyard Citrus and Avocado” from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in UH-Hilo’s Science and Technology Building, Room 108.

There is a $30 fee.

The workshop is presented by Nick Sakovich and will cover multiple aspects of citriculture. Participants will learn how to prepare the soil, plant, prune and fertilize citrus and avocado trees. Basic information about diseases, insect problems and troubleshooting also will be covered.
